I promise not to name the above words! but then, if the system is running, why do you fool around with it? If it's not (yet) running, play with it as long as you can. Just make sure you know how to restore it in a productive state! On the other hand i can recomend SlackWare. OK. No shiny knobs, no GUI for the install ...
but it works, and yes even a beginner can "play" with it, but it has a VERY STEEP learning courve. Makes it easier later on if you change to a different version of *NIX. what does "xp" stand for? eXPlodes the PC?
If you have a PC to "play" with: try to install FreeBSD, NetBSD or OpenBSD and see how they work. (And if you want to go back to Linux) Rudy |
