"Your search in abstracts and short courses returned 20 results." Pretty paltry compared with 3 days of solid-state NMR.
However, I agree with you in principle. I would certainly think about going if I had 1) money and 2) any reason to go. I am currently teaching but (shhh!!!) not actually doing active analytical research at the present. I have a "teaching post-doc" at the University of Michigan. Since my PhD advisor left the department and I didn't really want to work for anyone else in the analytical division for the 10 months I was going to be in town, they agreed that I could teach and do "educational research" with the organic professor I have taught for for the last 5 years.
Yes, I'm an analytical chemist who taught organic for my entire graduate career. There is, of course, a story there, but it is not that interesting (short version: not many organic students in my incoming class and I passed the organic entrance exam).
I am currently looking for work either in eastern Nebraska (preferably closer to Lincoln than Omaha) or as a telecommuter. Any thoughts? I am seriously considering teaching, but the market is slim in the area. I don't have any other real interests at present. A job as an NMR spectroscopist seems unlikely, but I've enjoyed the chromatography I've done. Don't have much experience in anything else (just in taking and teaching labs), but an willing to try just about anyting analytical...I'm not much of a synthetic chemist. I can do it, but it's just not that interesting to me.
Anyway, pleased to meet you. I'm avoiding grading a paper and writing a lecture for tomorrow, thus the long post!
