Hints & Tips by Nethack2004-01-29 19:17:49
Things I've learned from nethack. by IronPIP 2004-05-08 20:02:56
I'll leave you lot to figure out how much of this advice I actually implement out of game.

Always carry a towel.
Make sure you know what you're eating.
Don't eat more than your fill.
Be careful what you read, when, and under what conditions.
Sometimes the paper on which something is written is more valuable than the something.
Be careful what you drink, when, and under what conditions.
Don't pray too often.
Sacrifice often, and pay very careful attention to how much money you give priests.
Be fast. Very fast.
Don't rush through life. You often have more time to think about things than you give yourself.
If you can't beat em, leave until you can.
You often don't have to beat em.
Be kind to your pets and keep them well-fed.
If you get a wish, use it. Redundancy later beats dead now.
If it wants to boff you, it's probably going to steal from you or demand payment.
Bless things.
Most events can be turned to your advantage if you can control the circumstances of their occurance.
All that really matters when you die is how many points you racked up. So get all the money you can, explore everywhere you can, kill as much as possible, and accrue as much experience as you can manage.
If a very old wizard seems to prefer whiling his days away in a tower, let him. Unless you need something of his.
The best way to solve a maze is to dig through.

I'm sure I'll be posting more of these later.
