Deborah Madison mentions in Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone that her husband brings her a "treat" of fresh black-eyed peas. So when I saw some at the farmers market this morning, I went ahead and bought some. It's a bit tedious to get them out of the pod, but I'll agree that they're a treat. Much better texture than dried. And despite what Deborah said about them taking an hour to cook, mine were done in 30 minutes.
