I haven't done much air travel in the last couple years, but this summer will have at least 4 trips. I'd been reading about decreasing customer satisfaction with the air industry, and given my experience so far (two trips down, two to go), I can see why. Aside from the hassle of having to find food for cross-country flights, I'm seeing a lot of late departures.
So in honor of the summer season, I thought I'd keep track of the on-time departures using baseball-like statistics.
Here's the history, in chronological order:
airline depart from on-time? why
------- ----------- -------- ---
United San Francisco no weather delays
United Rochester yes
United Washinton (Dulles) no tardy crew member
Alaska San Francisco no prev flight late
Alaska SeaTac no prev flight late
This yields the following on-time departure averages:
United 0.333
Alaska 0.000
overall 0.200
I'm hoping they'll do better in the second half of the season. :-) |
