Fri 5/09 - BIG one by bigmal27 2014-05-09 11:09:27
So this week I've attended a meeting/seminar on women in leadership roles in the workplace, blew off a meeting (partly to be here), and finished reading the ENTIRE Schlock Mercenary archive. ALSO, I've forgotton TONS of tasks to do at home, I feel overloaded with all the lawn/landscaping work I need to do tomorrow, and I'm still recovering from my vasectomy last Friday.

Let's put those in order:

1. Vasectomy. BabyMal3.0 is developing just fine, so it was time to set the limit. The procedure went fine, and not as much pain over the weekend as they make it seem. However the stiches pull now and then, so dealing with pulling/spraying weeds and lawn machine maintenance tomorrow will still be tricky.

2. Shlock! The strip is almost 14 years old and I've been gone for more than half that. So I started from the beginning. I'm not sure I like the subtle cartoony look that creeped in about halfway through, but it's visually amazing in so many other ways, plus awesome writing. Just one question: where did Breya and Haban get off to? It's been too long -- are they okay? For all we know Kevyn could be an (unknowing) uncle!

3. Women. I've got nothing against them being in the workplace, in manager/leadership roles, or even as executives. But when someone claims that they offer useful perspectives, well... I have noted that my wife comes up with the half-baked ideas that take too much capital and offer little return. I've seen that at work over the last five years since a woman became Engineering VP. Too many "big" projects that the employees can't get behind because we don't have time to. And yet useful technical training, when offered, is on personal time. I don't LIKE this perspective. I hope it's just isolated cases and not women in general, but there is "Obamacare"...

[Got interrupted here by an annoying cow-orker who will NOT go away until I solve his problems for him. He got taken OFF the project in question when he left for vacation without finishing his work. A colleague of his had to REDO everything AND finish the undone stuff. I don't know WHY he even bothered to attend the weekly tech status meeting. Whoever asked him needs to be corrected. I can't even look this loser in the eyes.)

4. Lawn & landscaping: Here's the task list...
- Change oil in snowblower
- Change oil in lawnmower
- Remove lawnmower blade, get it sharpened, reinstall
- Install new spool in string trimmer (easy, but still a task)
- Change blade on edge trimmer
- USE string trimmer and edge trimmer
- EMPTY ashes from charcoal grill
- USE lawnmower (WHOLE yard)
- MIX Weed-B-Gon and SPRAY for weeds
- SPRAY RoundUp along all patio, sidewalk and driveway joints
- PULL weeds in sensitive areas (and they're prickly ones, too!)

How to do all this on one Saturday, the day before Mother's Day, AND take Kid1.0 out flower shopping for Mommy? AND not bust a nut? I don't know.

Not to mention OMG-WTF-BBQ WE'RE HAVING A BABY IN LESS THAN 100 DAYS!!! PANIC!!!!!111
