(Well I gotta' tell somebody and Facebook is sick of it.)
COOKS: The whole truth is lately I've been getting a lot of carry-out. When we did cook more, it was mostly freezer-to-oven so we shared that about 50/50. But when she DOES cook, well, it's just plain AWESOME. And she feeds the kids during the day. So yeah, she "cooks".
CLEANS: Oh, yes. Hard to do with toddlers around, but she does ALL the kids' laundry and usually ours too. She vacuums when she can and takes care of the daily spills. And she handles pee/poop/puke and all other nasty stuff. (I do my share of each -- except kids' laundry -- when I can, especially puke duty.) She does most of the dish work, although actual sink-washing hurts her bad knee, so I usually do that, and I'm more efficient loading the dishwaser.
TAKES "CARE" OF THE KIDS: When people say this, they usually don't understand what this means in its entirety. MrsMal has this TOTALLY covered. Get the kids out of bed, get dressed, do hair, get vitamins & milk, keep entertained, teach a few things, handle diaper changes / potty breaks, keep from getting hurt/killed, take to doctor/dentist/lab, and otherwise chase around and interact with them while she can. And then she handles brushing teeth and bedtime with one of them (I get the other). About the only thing left is picking up the toys, which I usually do (again, her knee).
She gives awesome gifts to everyone at the culturally-acceptable/mandated times, and in-between. She listens and offers advice when she can. She helps out a lot. She watches our church friends' little girl two days a week. She works the church nursery one Sunday service a month. She shows she cares for others.
And then she takes care of ME. She listens to all my crap, puts up with my stubbornness, keeps me from being a real a3hat/a7, and still loves me anyway.
God knows I love her, but sometimes I think she must be insane! |
