| [pentium5dot1] Diary of pentium5dot1 Updated/Posted: 2010-08-11 17:46:26 |
{{update}} I am no longer maintaining this diary (except for some minor edits to this top-level comment). If you want to talk, I am more likely reachable on Uncyclopedia (see below)
Also, I'm sick & tired of seeing "No explicit warning was given. That link could be to anything." in ID9K messages. Please do everyone a favor and fill in the comment field, even if it's only to say "Registration is required to post, but the users are stupid."
Here are a few random quotes:
- "Is this a dream, or do you not have the authority to comment on that?" - Me to my mind's simulation of my mother during a lucid (?) dream
- "I think computer viruses should count as life. I think it says something about human nature that the only form of life we have created so far is purely destructive. We've created life in our own image." - Stephen Hawking
- "I've seriously never seen one of those before. Are you SURE it's not a cdrom drive?" - Unknown computer technician, after mistakenly putting a CD-ROM into a 5 1/4" floppy drive (from here)
- "Just one question: why is she singing about Linux?" - YouTube commenter, on Uninstall (Bokurano OP) by Chiaki Ishikawa (I am not a typical otaku; I just found this funny)
- "Does God cry all the time and spend all your money? No, I guess not." - YouTube commenter, on God is a Girl by Groove Coverage (Video has now been deleted due to copyright violation)
Note: Unlike many of the UFies, I don't have a tech job. I just graduated from Caltech. I am slowly taking up DDR since it's the only exercise I'll be able to get for a while... (Emphasis on slowly. You do know how tough Caltech is, right?)
Speaking about DDR... Windows (Vi$ta) is my primary operating system, but I use Ubuntu to run StepMania - so when I ask Linux-related questions, keep in mind that 1) I am dual-booting and I will probably have to reboot my computer before following your advice, but more importantly 2) I don't check this website more often than once every 24 hours on average, and even then my reading of comments may be 4-6 days behind current. Sorry for frequently lacking the courtesy to reply promptly.

Notes regarding distributed computing: I quit WCG a while ago due to concern over the safety of my previous laptop's fan. I also stopped using ElectricSheep due to retiring said laptop. I am now crunching Folding@home on my new laptop (on only one of two cores), but I am running it anonymously; I am not a member of any teams and probably never will be. |
