| [UFie_Birthdays] Diary of UFie_Birthdays Updated/Posted: 2013-08-19 14:59:23 |
A place for UFies to voluntarily post their own birthdays (just your own, please; see note about Google Calendar exception*).
In the diary UFies can post either
Just the month and day
or
Month, day and year.
If you change your mind and want to delete your birthday after you have posted it send an email to
ActiveMods at UserFriendly dot org
and ask them to have your post removed (make sure to include a link to your post).
In addition to this diary we have a Google Calendar (UFie.Birthdays at gmail dot com) for you to use.
Thanks to Klaranth for suggesting the calendar and to confused.brit for helping me get the calendar working.
You may post in the diary, the calendar, or both.
In the calendar UFies can post either
Just their UF Nickname
or
Their UF Nickname and year of birth.

Instructions for Google Calendar:
Adding your Birthday to the Calendar:
- In your own calendar create an annual all day event for your birthday, such as "Snate" or "Snate 1976"
- Edit the event and invite UFie.Birthdays at gmail dot com to the event (Add guests)
- I've set up this calendar to automatically accept the invitations sent to it
* If you do not have a Google Account or do not want to associate your Google Account with your UF Nickname you may request to have your birthday manually added to the Google Calendar instead.
- First add your birthday to the diary and in the Comments section or in a reply indicate that you would like to be manually added to the Google Calendar.
- Second send an email to the person maintaining the Google Calendar (currently Snate; main email is best) letting him or her know that you have made such a request in the diary.
Adding UFie.Birthdays to your list of Other Calendars:
- Either
- Copy the link location for the iCal link above
- Log in to your Google Calendar
- Click on Add under Other Calendars
- Select Add by URL
- Paste in the URL and click Add
- Or (this is easier)
- While logged in to your Google Calendar in another tab
- Click on the Google Calendar link above
- Click on the + Google Calendar icon in the lower right
- Your Google Calendar should open up and you should get asked if you would like to add this calendar
- Click Yes
