Had I known that my sighted helper intended on using a delivery service, I would have tried to nip that in the bud.
I'm well aware that most places find out far too late that they suddenly developed a delivery service through places like DoorDash, GrubHub, etc.
The delivery service intercepts the order in a classic MITM attack, tacks on their own prices, and then is left with your payment details in the clear so they can then go purchase your order in person.
If the food is late, wrong, or otherwise unacceptable, it's the restaurant that gets the bad rep while the delivery service makes off with the money.
If I don't already have $Restaurant phone number in my contact list, I make sure to do some DDG research to find the nearest outlet, verify their number/address, then call them directly to place my order.
I avoid the first ad-sponsored link as a probable phishing/scam/MITM agent just lying in wait... |
