also talked to my vet briefly. Oot is perfectly correct, and the vet concurs about the dosage being really being not even problematical, forget about lethal.

(I have been taking meloxicam tablets for several years now to try to lower some of the inflammation. I'm rather familiar with the drug and it's dosages, actions, and side-effects.)

If given within half an hour or so of ingestion, the charcoal contains very likely over 90% of the drug, for one thing which oot didn't bring up. That's what it does, grab onto the molecules around it and sequester them in the physical interstices of the carbon mass. Teeny, tiny pores, one-way passages. What goes in gets pooped out.

Also, Mobic/Meloxicam is designed to be released slowly during assimilation, which helps it last longer in the system. That gave you extra time to get the charcoal in them, and stop it from getting into their bloodstream.

Other than the initial "read the label in good light, and don't forget your spectacles" or whatever mistake was made, you have done everything exactly right. (-; Except panic. You shouldn't have done that, but since you did it afterwards, and did all of the rest perfectly, I guess you're allowed some panic. ;-)

BUT NO SELF-FLAGELLATION. No reason at all to beat yourself up over this, especially now that it is all over with. Problem is solved, no real damage, you handled it correctly. Don't bash yourself about this, just move the kitten meds to their own spot away from human meds. Long-term problem, solved simply.

I do think I would wait another couple of days before giving them the anti-helminthics you thought you were giving them. Kind of let their stomachs get over the charcoal and meloxicam before handing them a toxin for worms.

Deep breath, take it easy, enjoy those adult beverages and the company of wife and kitties. And be well yourself, including in your mind. Please.
