So, I have an oven.
In October 2013 (2 months after I moved in to this place), the wire connecting to one end of the heating element in the baking area of the oven melted its connector off. In my first ever feat of appliance repair, I successfully replaced the connector and reattached the wire. Problem solved.
Just last week, the wire on the opposite end of the heating element did the same thing. It showed signs of severe wear and corrosion. Again, I replaced the connector and reattached the wire.
At the time I did the above, I noticed the connector I replaced in October was showing signs of wear and the beginnings of corrosion. Tonight, that wire melted through again just as it had before, and I had to replace its connector just as I did before.
Three times makes a pattern. Am I doing something to cause this, or is there a process going on that I'm causing to accelerate, or am I being paranoid and it's normal for a regular baking oven to need connectors replaced on the heating element's power wires every three months? |
