BJP by itself has a majority of seats (282 out of 543). As if it's not enough that they could form a government all by themselves, their allies (NDA) have another 55 seats, and the Congress Party is stuck with 44 of their own and 15 allied seats. That's right...the former ruling party now has fewer seats than the allies of the guys who mopped the floor with them. I'd say the corruption and ineffective leadership I've read about from time to time has taken their toll. I don't know much about Indian politics, but I do follow out of curiosity from time to time. Just...wow.
