So, I purchase a molex power switch for a little project of mine.*
The problem? Whatever moron designed the thing is only switching the ground pins, not the two hot wires. (+12 and +5)
Hence it being utterly useless as the board for the enclosure shares a ground with the eSATA cable so the thing promptly powered up when I plugged the eSATA cable in w/ the switch off
Taking a gander around the internet it looks like I may have to make my own. I'll have to find a switch on $parts_site that will handle 12VDC at ~10Amps or so. (likely only need about 6 combined but hey, safety)
*4 drive eSATA port multiplier bay (namely, this one, only silver) with a dead power supply, board still works fine though. |
