1. If I spend more time inside the house than outside (say, a LOT more so much that I do not CARE about the lawn AT ALL), I probably care about the inside of the house a LOT. And will maintain and even improve it to the point that NO ONE would want to leave. (This is not my personal argument; just an argument for inside-loving geeks.)
2. Spending time on the lawn & landscaping means LESS time and other resources (e.g. money) to handle minor tweaks and upgrades inside. (I can personally attest that this is very, very true.) It's a zero-sum game unless you can time-travel.
3. Lawn care is partly based on an inherently unpredicatable environment (weather, although general climate is a useful average). Indoor maintenance is easier, having to deal only with the user-controlled environment. (I concede that the outside structure like roofing is more like the former.)
On the whole, I actually agree with you, but sometimes one can not judge a book by its cover, nor a house by its lawn. |
