A well manicured lawn tells people that you care about your house, that you are willing to perform the necessary upkeep to maintain your house in good condition. A neighborhood that has unkempt lawns that are overgrown with weeds tells prospective buyers that nobody cares about their houses. I certainly wouldn't buy a house in a neighborhood where the lawns look like crap because I'd have to wonder about what condition the houses themselves are in. If I buy a house, I don't want to have to replace the roof after a year because the previous owner didn't care enough to inspect the shingles. I don't want to be dealing with water damage in the house because the previous owner couldn't be bothered to inspect their plumbing. If they can't take care of their lawn, how can they take care of their house?
