Hi Ufies; RAM Question(s) by chrisbee 2014-05-05 04:24:20
I've got an old laptop that uses DDR2 SODIMMs.
It's got 2 slots with 256 Mb modules in each.
After some searching around I gather
(a) I can use any modules that run at the laptop makers specified speed or greater.
(b) I can probably mix modules from different RAM suppliers.
(c) I can probably mix RAM speeds if greater than laptop makers spec.
(d) I don't have to install RAM in both slots (manual says different numbers of SODIMMs may be supplied new)
Laptop manual says Max RAM 2 Gig. So can I put it all in one slot or not? Will it run with more than 2 Gig installed? My little netbook will use 4 Gig in spite of the makers statements that 2 is the max.
Thanks in advance; its bed time here.
