Which begs the question "What mistakes are so easy to make, and carry so high a cost, that it is in Society's best interests to prevent that cost; either by trying to prevent the mistake in the first place, or by mitigating the potential cost". OK, that's a rather involved question, but I hope you see what I mean.
How do you wish to apply those principles to the issue at hand? Just because pregnancy is fraught with religious issues, should the government, acting in Society's best interests, allow religious believers to act counter to Society's best interests in this health issue? And yes, pregnancy IS a health issue, even if it is not a disease. |
