| I mean this: "They’re asking for the right to not pay for contraceptives because they’re religiously opposed to contraceptives. Right?"
Sounds like they are religiously opposed to abortions, not to contraceptives, and ACA specifically excludes from any requirements any products that involve anything that would harm a fertilized egg. The specific products which Hobby Lobby has singled out as "abortion-causing" work by preventing fertilization. So their opposition to the contraceptive mandate seems to be more political theater rather than a religious issue.
To further make their claims sound baseless, Hobby Lobby also seems to had provided insurance coverage to their employees which included the contraceptives in question. Now suddenly, that is objectionable. How does this make sense? |
