About Hobby Lobby. by ShadowSystems2014-03-27 00:47:59
Everybody seems to be missing the real story here. by RetiQlum22014-03-27 12:14:50
      Except that's a facile argument. by firehawk 2014-03-27 12:51:21
1) They're not saving any money. The plan costs them the same with or without the coverage they object to. They just want the insurance company to reject claims that they (Hobby Lobby) are already essentially paying for, and that the insurance company is already willing to pay for.

2) They're MAKING the argument religious by claiming it's against their religion to facilitate what they see as a sin.

So no, I don't think anyone in the media is missing the point. I think the argument is exactly what it appears to be: can a corporation be enough of a person to have a religion, whose rights are being infringed more here - the owners or the employees, and which rights need to be protected?

You're absolutely right about your core statement about taking responsibility for one's actions, but the specific contraceptives at issue here are the POST-mistake ones. Do you want to pay for a mistake for life? Saying "then don't make it in the first place" is both correct and incredibly wrong. We're all human; we DO make mistakes.
