About Hobby Lobby. by ShadowSystems2014-03-27 00:47:59
Everybody seems to be missing the real story here. by RetiQlum22014-03-27 12:14:50
      I see it slightly differently by basher20 2014-03-27 12:38:33
To me the deepest question is to what extent can the government compel a private actor, individual or organization, to further the interests of the state against his own interests.

My original point yesterday as well was that the Justice Department under the current administration is basing its actions on results, not principles. For instance, they maintain in Citizen United and Hobby Lobby that a corporation is an entity divorced from the interests of its stockholders, yet in the civil rights arena, they argue the opposite, that the interests of the stockholders are part and parcel of the interests of the corporation.

I accept that you can make a principled stand on either side of the issue of the personhood of the corporation, but the administration seems to be trying to stand wih a foot on each side of the scale.
