Medical professionals, like anyone else, should see some profit in exchange for their service, for two reasons. First, why should they live under a different set of rules? Especially since their skills are more valued and necessary. I don't *need* a car to live, but that doesn't mean my mechanic should charge only his cost for fixing my car.
Second, not everyone is ill, nor are they all ill at the same moment. We can't confine medics to a life in a jar, broken only in case of emergency. Pay a surgeon only for time spent operating, and you will not have a surgeon for very long.
It isn't profit that is in any way immoral, per se.
However, if that profit grows into usury, THEN you can argue its immorality. |
