poll: right to immediate independent drug test by SnappingTurtle2014-02-08 12:39:12

But given that it already exists... by firehawk2014-02-08 16:56:31
Not so much, no. by Peace_Man 2014-02-09 00:04:45
I think that a single positive should not be used as an immediate cause for dismissal. Possibly trigger future testing to be done by a different laboratory - but then, if you can't trust a lab, why would you be able to trust a different lab?

Which is why I don't think mandatory drug tests should be used as HR tools at all. For one thing, as Hieraco points out, they assume guilt unless proven guilty. And despite what Clovis Man believes, as long as hiring practices and management policies ensure that people are performing their jobs adequately, drug use or not is none of the employers' business. It is not up to the employees to submit to testing to prove that they are not guilty of drug use - it is up to HR and management to ensure that they are continually suited for their job. From all causes - not just drug use.
