Those of you who are familiar with the source material for these provisions may be curious about the lack of a provision number 3; its terms are actually covered by provision 1, as the category of individuals also includes oneself. This has the side effect of preventing oneself from engaging in self-sacrifice for the sake of mere cooperation, but when humanity itself is at stake, validating that sacrifice.

Also note that each provision is qualified by the limits of one's ability -- whether that be physical ability or mental ability. There is no point in engaging in self-abuse* as a result of one's inability to conform to the provisions; doing so is simply a form of causing harm to oneself, which is counter to provision 1.
