I keep it and a square of posterboard handy at all times. When I come across something to remove, I trap it with the plastic container and slide the poster board under it to seal the top for removal.
...I get to see that $creepy is trapped, I know he isn't going to get me through the plastic, and I can see that I am not hurting it when sliding the posterboard under the container to trap it.
Once trapped, I simply go outside and release. IF it is something
agressive like a wasp or hornet, I'll place the container upside down on the ground and use a broom handle to knock it over to release $creepy, because sometimes those little suckers just aren't thankful. LOL!
...but I'd make that your first and maybe even last step if you wanted to take it. Don't try to catch something you are afraid of by hand, you may hurt yourself or the creature. Maybe trapping them in something you can see through and you know will keep you safe would help with that first step of overcoming the fear, maybe that simple trap would be enough. I mean, I don't want to kill a wasp, but I don't want to touch one either. ;)
Just something to consider, it is a solution so obvious it's transparent to most. And treatment centers. HA! Like I'm going to pay someone to say "Oh, you're afraid of spiders? Ok, we'll fix that. Here, put this fishbowl with five live tarantulas in it over your head." Ya, No thanks! |
