I figure if he can eat critters, killing bugs when you deem it to be unavoidable is probably ok. Like others have said, keep the teachings you like of whatever philosophy or religion. Hang out with like-minded and supportive individuals who will foster your personal growth. Personally, I happen to follow the Dalai Lama's teachings but none of my friends are Buddhist. They tend to be Christian, atheist or agnostic. {{{oot}}}
