poll: right to immediate independent drug test by SnappingTurtle2014-02-08 12:39:12
Addendum: Employer bares the cost of both tests. by ShadowSystems 2014-02-08 15:09:40
If the Employer wants a drug test, then they're already required to pay for it.
Since *they* are requiring the test, they should also pay for the "second opinion" test.
If the two tests results match, then you're fairly sure they were accurate.
If they don't match, then one of the two facilities is lying & a new batch of tests required.
Again, Employer pays for both, since they're the one requiring the test in the first place.
Pick two new facilities to administer the tests, & try again.
If the tests match, good to go.
If not, then someone is futzing with the test results.
Not sure what should be done at that point...

But the Employee shouldn't be on the hook for any of it.
The Employer wants the tests, the Employer picks up the tab for all of it.

"Butbutbut! That's expensive!"
Which is my point.
The Employer has the money to pay for one test, they can pay for a second.
The potential/current Employee shouldn't be required to pick up the tab for something the Employer wants.

Employer wants to require Safety Boots on the job, that's a Reasonable Expense that the Employee can manage.
Employer wants everyone to drive a teal green Hummer with olive neon underlights, the Employer can damn well pick up the tab.
Employer wants a $$$$ drug test, then they can suck up the cost for any/all such tests.
