anyone else getting malware alerts from google by Garrinka2014-02-08 09:12:15
  Secure your browser. by CALL-198 2014-02-08 11:48:55
  1. Disable Javascript/Plugins(Java/Flash/etc) that might be potential vectors for any kind of malware. Malware generally requires some kind of turing complete environment to propogate. This will prevent 99% of problems.
  2. Run your browser inside of a sandbox. Minimally, open the browser as a dedicated user with low permissions. Should the Malware manage to get passed browser security, it will have to escalate its privilidges to get beyond the dedicated user account. Maximally, run the browser inside of its own dedicated VM that has been locked down so that it has no communication capabilities back to the host computer. I do all of my web browsing inside a dedicated, locked down VM. No need to wait until somebody has already identitified a security threat. In the wild.
