Supposedly Skype & Jaws *can* work together, but the Jaws forums dedicated to getting it to do so are full of a constant cycle of:
Skype releases new version.
It breaks compatibility with Jaws & the Jaws scripts written to make Skype useable at all.
Scripts writers begin writing new scripts.
Script writers use feedback on forums to fix the scripts until it works as well as possible.
A few days later, Skype releases a new version.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
I tried a LinPhone account, but it wasn't very Jaws friendly either.
*Sigh*
When there's a microphone plugged in & it's unmuted, Jaws seems to think that this is a good time to echo everything the mic hears.
So if I say anything, I hear myself say it, the echo a second later, and then Jaws telling me that it doesn't like an unmuted mic before throwing a temper tantrum.
Mute the mic, restart Jaws, and all is well...
Right up until I unmute the mic.
*Sigh*
I've given up on most technology & applications.
It either doesn't play nice with Jaws, Jaws refuses to play nice with it, or it's a constant Sysiphisean battle to keep it working.
I have enough headaches in using the programs that *DO* work with Jaws, I don't need to add in a Tylenol+Codeine addiction on top of it all to make other stuff function.
And that sucks.
I wouldn't mind making VOIP calls instead of cellular ones.
I've got a severely limited Minutes amount on my Verizon plan, and anything I can do to make them last would be good.
But when simply plugging in a mic causes Jaws to barf, even if I could navigate the UI worth a darn, it's just not worth the frustration.
