After the cheap Ikea cams gave up their holding power, we put ginormous screws in the bed post and those only kept the bed together for another year or so. We had to replace the slats with plywood, too.

Then I had a mattress on the floor for a number of years until we got a "real" bed (as in "real expensive"), which we just replaced because it got too saggy and was still under warranty.

We now have a tempurpedic for 2 months. We'll see how long this one holds up. The bed frame we have now is steel (at least the base is), and we've had it for 5 years and it's not a bit wobbly.
