Anyone else find the "genetically modified" crops by Freakazoid2014-02-04 06:30:43

On one hand, GMO crops are so unvarying and uniform (think clones) that if a disease should develop that they are vulnerable to, then that whole crop is gone. Something like the Potato Famine in Ireland. That's the hidden danger that most people don't seem to take into account - the fact that GMO crops are 'brittle' genetically - no variations that might make some of the crop survive biological disaster.

Also, there seems to be some evidence that GMO crops are linked to the problems bees have - up to 50% of hives in some areas have suddenly failed. Which means that there is a chance of unintended side effects.

The scariest tales about GMO foods is that they will poison us. I don't think there is much truth in this rumour, but just because the reason given to avoid GMO foods isn't true doesn't mean that there is no danger in GMO crops. And some of the dangers are legal ones, as some have already mentioned in this thread.
