...and the trade policies surrounding alternate species.

Breeding tomatoes for redness at the expense of flavor, as wwill, had brought up before, is a horrendous trade-off. But I doubt that one could stand on its own without some cooperation in keeping the other ones down somehow.

And as I see has already been brought up elsewhere, golden rice and sugar beets are another couple of examples of "keeping out the riff-raff".
