And a reason why they wouldn't want to do that.
On the flip-side of things, in a situation where you (the reasonable, logical one) are calling them (the idiots) for something, my anecdotal experience suggests that NOT specifying the question, or giving any hint as to subject or particulars, gives a better response rate.
How is this, you say?
Simply put, lazy people and ones who wish to shift blame and responsibility will selectively reply to voice mails depending on whether or not it's something they WANT to address.
If it's one of those sticky situations where they (in the role of idiot) might actually be asked to WORK, it's far easier to simply ignore the voice mail and wait for the caller (you, the reasonable one) to either figure out their own answer, find someone else who actually was at their desk, or give up and go away for any of a hundred other reasons.
Unfortunately, I found that treating everyone I had to leave a voice mail for like one of the work-shirking idiots was the only way to get a semi-reliable response to voice mails. Until they had proven that they WEREN'T work-shirking idiots, that is. |
