A small long range probe stuck on the top docking port of the SS module being launched. Just before docking I separate it and leave the probe orbiting. The SS part then docks with it's motor still attached and refuels. The motor then separates, picks up the probe and has enough fuel to boost something that small to an inter planetary orbit.
