I spec'ed out a nice 15" travel-friendly Dell notebook with battery life to spare.

They sent me a 19" Dell that requires a special bag just to tote around, and sucks down battery life like a fat kid on cake.

So I changed it's network name from the Agency-standard department-abbreviation-plus-property-tag-number nomenclature to Oriskany.

So it wasn't too long before the network nazis were on the line demanding to know why I "violated Agency policy" by changing the network ID.

My response was simple, and to the point - this thing was the size of an aircraft carrier, and if I had my druthers I'd sink it in the Gulf of Mexico.

Oh - and (a) their personal preference for bureaucratizing meaningless crap does NOT constitute "Agency policy", so stop pretending like it does, and (b) stop bugging me about this asinine BS, because I already have a Gulf dive trip scheduled in May.

They don't bother me any more.
