of a program coordinator aren't likely to be viewed badly by an admissions committee, if the committee even ever hears about it. Grad programs have coordinators to answer these questions because it is important they get answered. Accepting students to programs that they aren't suited for or which don't meet the student's needs does not generally lead to a successful program.

Find the program coordinator for the program of interest and ask questions. Alternately, do research on the questions you should ask of a grad program before joining it then use those questions as a starting point to our inquiries. If your goal is to avoid asking "stupid" questions, research is not the field for you.
