actually work.

IPv4 doesn't comply with the seven layer OSI model for networking (IP4 came first). They were working on an IPv5 that would match the seven layers but realized it would just cause way too many headaches so they aborted it and moved on to IPv6.

At least this is what I learned in a networking class I took a while back.
