Repost:: Venus transit photos by davydd 2012-06-06 00:06:37
Yep, I was up early today and pulled out the camera as the sun rose above the nearby high rises. It's been a long time since I used that infrared filter last.

The bigger shot was done using a 180mm prime lens and a 2x extender. Not as sharp as I'd hoped, could be caused by the atmosphere, by me getting the aperture wrong (was 18, then the extender, so the equivalent of 36, which can cause issues with refraction) or the fact that the infrared filter didn't really fit to that lens I just placed it into the lens hood, it sat right on the lens. Happy enough with the results though, was the best I could do in the short time window before I had to get davyddson 1.0 ready for nursery.
