On my morning runs for the past few days, the waves have been really spectacular.
They had 8+ foot peaks and were rolling in like freight trains. It looked just like those waves you see in the surf movies (except that they were somewhat brown with carried sand, gravel and, kelp).
The waves at the beach in South Laguna (I drive past it every day and don't know the name) were so high they closed the parking lot. At the main beach, people were sitting on the boardwalk because the waves (and resulting kelp) had the sand covered.
