tonight. I did a search on-line for the model number (DP220), and found a site (where I spent the last hour or so) for vintage power tools. Thy have a history of Delta from it's beginnings in 1919 up to the sale earlier this year to a Taiwanese manufacturer who, incidentally, wants to move more production INTO the US and restore the Delta name to what it once was.
I wish my great uncle had not sold his tools after my great aunt passed away in the 80s. He had a delta shop, all about the same vintage as the drill press. That is the only thing he kept. When he started getting woodworking tools again in the 90s, he did not go for the really good stuff - hence the Harbor Freight/Central Machinery lathe. It worked, however I have been slowly replacing some of that stuff. I am glad he did not get rid of some of the hand tools and hand held power tools. My favorite circular saw remains, to this day, a 6-1/2" Skil worm-drive saw. All metal housing. The thing is heavy, and was the first circular saw I used. For a long time, it was also the only one I could make decent cuts with - I was used to it's weight and layout. |
