Making me re-think where you are coming from :-P That blog post hits the nail right on the head. When you see stories about cops behaving badly (like the one you posted earlier), don't blame the cop. He is a statistical inevitability - someone doing what he does, because that's what he does and nobody stops him, or tells him to do things differently. When you see cops behaving badly, look to their management to see where the problems are really coming from. Look to their hiring criteria, their policies, oversight and enforcement. Maybe even look to see if a police department is systematically being starved by reduced funding. And ultimately to see if it is being overburdened by having to enforce nonsensical laws. Bah! You got me going on a rant again. This time I seem to agree with you. Even if I (as always) have to guess at what you are trying to say :-P
