Is a force field rigid ? :-) by SciSSorS2011-08-29 08:28:26
How would you increase the pressure inside by Ataraxia 2011-08-29 08:41:30
Unless you were already inside the field, you would be hard pressed to penetrate it. Plus, how would you increase the pressure once inside? Generally speaking, once the field is in place (assuming it's a bubble, otherwise pressure would make no difference), nothing but light can transit from one side to the other. This means that it would be fairly hard to get new matter inside to increase said pressure.

Assuming you actually manage to increase the pressure inside, I suppose it depends on the properties of the force field. I suspect some force fields may have a means to release pressure, while others do not. Also, it would depend on the strength of the field. A small amount of pressure would be able to be resisted, whereas a large amount may not be. Of course, larger amounts of pressure would eventually squish the occupants of the field. :P
