worries us a whole lot. Less now that he's spending more time with his dad, but he's still the one that tends to take after his mother, personality-wise.
He has learning disabilities, just like his mum, and a bit of a speech impediment, too. A temper problem, also like his mother, and the same wise-mouth tendencies. Just like his mother in too many ways, but smart. Not wise-smart, but sneaky, conniving smart, cunning and with a vicious streak.
Hate to say it of my grandson, but this kid is a liar and a back-stabber by nature, and sneaky. Makes for some unpleasantness, when he gets out of control. But like I said, he's better now that his dad has a hand back in.
I'll give the step-kid this much credit, he has learned quickly how to deal with the little one. Ten years old, and would rather tell you a lie than the truth, when a lie will cost him and the truth make him cash money. Never saw the like of prevarication for the sake of lies and nothing else. We're making some headway there, I think, too. But it's slow and sometimes I really wonder about him. We'll keep on trying, of course, and we'll be around for him no matter, but it would be nice to see him get a handle on himself and fix some of his bad habits before they get to be too ingrained. Before he becomes a teenager would be nice.... |
