Lots of people need to be smacked by joecrouse2011-04-19 09:39:19
Sorry that would be too dangerous by DesertRat662011-04-19 09:54:13
That is nowhere near the real problem. by twixt 2011-04-19 12:14:45
The real problem would be the whole idea that society *disapproves* of idiocy.

What would happen if people actually *did* start thinking rationally on a regular basis?

Who would buy the National Enquirer? Who would buy all that beer? Who would buy all those cars? Who would buy all those houses with no money down?

Don't you see, the entire Western World's *economy* is based on getting stupid people to buy their happiness at the mall!

Sensible people wouldn't *do* that! It's *waaaaaaay* too dangerous to let sensible people run the world!

And what's worse, sensible people would insist that all that energy that now goes into reading about Justin Bieber and Britney Spears be put to work picking up garbage on the freeway and cleaning up cigarette butts and wads of gum on the ground around bus stops.

This of course, would cause wails of horror from those people who think the work of volunteers deprives the people that do those jobs of the reason for their existence.

And that, of course, would cause the moral collapse of society. We all know that, because that's what we've been told.

Now be reasonable, and let people go on being stupid. It's *good* to allow our society to collapse because of institutionalized stupidity. It lets the stupid people who are already in power *stay* in power, ya know... :-)
