How are there "no injuries" after that?!? by oot2011-04-02 05:30:25
  Common misconception by cokish2011-04-02 06:10:18
Um no. Your numbers are off. by CALL-198 2011-04-02 12:36:37
The numbers you are misquoting comes from the pressure of water. Every 30ft of sea water (a few more feet of fresh water) constitutes 1 atmosphere. So the pressure at -30 ft is twice that at sea level, -60 is three times sea level, etc. The same does *not* hold true above water. Air is much less dense then water and it takes a far greater column of air to make the same change in pressure. Therefore, changes in altitude must be much greater above water to achieve the same pressure differences. An altitude of +30 feet wouldn't even show up on a common household barometer.

Sorry, I see now that you meant 30 000 ft. by CALL-1982011-04-02 12:40:02
        Sorry, I didn't see this when I clicked reply. (n/t) by kahuana2011-04-02 12:42:08
I think the first 30ft was supposed to be 30,000ft by kahuana2011-04-02 12:41:13
