thanks for the info but proxmox is an all or nothing sort of deal. It's more of a ESX/ESXi sort of thing in that you install the OS with it, they don't have a seperate UI download to stick on an existing machine. This same machine runs 2 ZFS arrays and a minecraft server, can't exactly just wipe things out :)
also already ran through this page and found that most of them either don't work or are too heavyweight
may end up looking into FreeNX as right now the mouse is a bit funky via VNC. (if I do the -usbdevice tablet thing I can't doubleclick and without it the cursor doesn't follow the dot on the host)

may end up prodding the gentoo forums, see if anyone can help me get virt-manager (I think that one comes with libvirt?) or virsh working. Last time I tried (the one that comes with libvirt) it complained about not being able to connect to the daemon.

right now i've just got a shell script to start things. Probably end up tweaking that a bit to automatically launch screen before it launches the VM. (right now I run screen manually) Either that, or just stick a & on the end of the command :)
