Expanding on the question I asked here. As I understand it you don't combine everything, good or bad, when creating hybrid race characters. There are pros and cons to doing it, otherwise everyone would be doing it to get uber characters with every ability imaginable. For example (as I understand it) a Human Elf hybrid would be better than a standard human with magic but not as good as an elf and they would be a little hardier than an elf but not as hardy as a human. So a human elf would not be as good a mage as an elf but better than a human and not as good a fighter as a human but better than an elf. They'd be a decent fighter-mage character which is how I've used them in Baldur's Gate 2 and Neverwinter Nights 2.
