Torg is doing battle with a peon in livery, who's armed with a short sword & a dagger.
Torg has a Vorpal Scythe and has already winnowed his way through fourteen of the peon's cohorts.
Torg pauses & asks: What did you do to deserve dying like maggots in a chicken coop?
The Peon replies happily: "I got promoted to Cannon Fodder!"
What were you doing before this?
"Middle Management!"
You went FROM Management TO Cannon Fodder?
"YES! And if I do a good job and survive, I might get promoted again!"
What do you get promoted to FROM Cannon Fodder?
"UPPER MANAGEMENT!"
What happens after that?
"SENIOR MANAGEMENT!"
And after that?
"MEAT SHIELD!"
And after that?
"CORPORATE MANAGEMENT!"
And after *that*?
"VICE PRESIDENT!"
Dare I ask what comes next?
"POLITICIAN!"
And... I'm afraid to ask, what comes next?
"I dare to dream... Of the glory, the honour, the unbridled joy... I'D GET TO BE A CARBON-BASED LIFE FORM!"
