While the driver undoubtedly wasn't too wise, neighter seem the reporters to be without blame:

- The press notice from the police doesn't mention SatNav at all.
- The track started out as a driveable (but closed) road, but turned into a footpath later on.
- The driver realised his mistake before he had progressed 2 km, but couldn't turn and kept going in the hope of reaching a bigger road (why he didn't reverse is not mentioned).
- He wasn't hurt and was able to arrange for help by himself.
- The truck was slipped into a brook crossing the path and had to be airlifted as the driver of the tow truck wasn't that stupid ;)
