My father took a guided bear hunting tour in Alaska which basically amounted to being driven around a dump on a truck mounted platform. My father, a Vietnam Vet, wanted to get off of the platform and hunt from the ground. The guides were really worried about my father's safety off of the truck; but, my father threatened to take his money back if they didn't let him hunt in a more natural enviroment.
So, one of the guides, my father, and one of my father's friends set out on foot and they were indeed charged by an aggressive bear. The guide and my father's friend both dropped their guns and tried to run. My father, not prone to panic, calmly took aim and dropped the bear as it got close. One 7mm magnum shot through a bear's cranium will bring it down. |
